Throughout the Night.

Throughout the night the cloud brought darkness to the one side and light to the other side; so neither went near the other all night long. Exodus 14:20 (NIV)

As Moses raised one hand over the Red Sea in obedience to God’s command, God drove the sea back with a strong east wind (vs 21)

Throughout the night. (vs 20)

All night long. (vs 20)

All that night. (vs 21)

Wow! That God would free His people in such a miraculous way was enough to demonstrate His unlimited power, but to perform the rescue in the night both reassures and intrigues me.

The night depicted the Israelites situational darkness.

And God’s steadfast presence was with them… throughout the night. (vs 20)

All night long. (vs 20)

All that night. (vs 21)

Irregardless of the literal time of day—the clarity of the sky and brilliance of the sun—dark circumstances can engulf a person.

What manner of talk or laughter or song or wailing in fear might have been heard from the Israelites as they crossed on dry land? Scripture doesn’t say.

But no doubt God delighted in those who may have offered up praises at the feel of the dry land of a zippered sea while He had to grieve over those gripped by fear, faith faltering between the wall of water on their left and right.

Because in the midst of darkness, God’s presence never left them.

Throughout the night. (vs 20)

All night long. (vs 20)

All that night. (vs 21)

Do you need to be reassured of His presence and provision throughout the night of your present situation?

No night is too dark for Him, nor enemy too strong.

Throughout your present “night”, be encouraged! He will make a way through to the other side, just in time to witness the water flow back into place, sweeping your “Egyptians” into the sea.
