Move-In Ready

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me. Revelation 3:20 (NIV)

We interrupt the start of this week’s post for a brief PSA…

Welcome November! I’ve been awaiting your arrival since January, 2018, motioning you forward when I learned my debut inspirational romance would release in November of 2019.

But waiting isn’t a bad thing. Just ask Jesus. The scripture in Revelation depicts Him standing at the door of our heart, waiting for an answer.

What if I were a house on the market and He were a potential buyer who desired to live there, curious about the overall condition of the place. What would He say when He laid eyes on my far-from-move-in-ready state?

He’d be delighted.

As a capable Carpenter, He seeks to rebuild that which is broken. He’s not looking for houses in perfect condition.

Amen! Because there aren’t any.

The fall of man in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3) made for a bunch of messed up houses.

Jesus says, Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me. Revelation 3:20 (NIV)

When the house of my heart welcomes Him to move in, He redeems and restores.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has gone, the new has come! II Corinthians 5:17

Notice the enthusiasm in each of these verses.

God wholly delights in a soul that’s move-in ready.

Meaning…ready and willing for Him to come inside and make them into a new creation.

“The old has gone, the new has come!”

His is not a meek little tap, tap, tap on the door. A belabored sigh…waiting, arms crossed, glancing all around, the mark of disinterest in his expression.

No!

Jesus knocks on the door of my heart and longs to dine with me. Dust, mildew, rotted wood and all.

He seeks move-in-ready folks, those who are in desperate need of becoming new.

Not fixed up a little.

Not renovated here and there.

But fully restored from an old to a new creation.

How about you? Are you move-in ready? Will you welcome Him inside to make you a new creation?

Mary
